India's national flower, the lotus is widely represented in architecture and art. In Hindu iconography, deities are often depicted sitting on a lotus flower or with a lotus flower in hand. I have appropriated this symbol by associating lapis lazuli with intense blues linked by fine precious threads. The unfolding of the petals of this lotus reflects the blossoming of the soul.
